Day 5 in Hokkaido // Otaru // Ramen Yokocho

Opted for authentic Japanese for breakfast today.

Breakfast with a view.. From the height of 22nd floor πŸ˜‰

#charmmylovestotravel #charmmyinhokkaido

We only have the choice of our staple, rice, cereal rice or porridge.

The rest are standard.

Very beautifully presented. πŸ‘πŸ»

But looking at the quantity, my hubs sure will feel very shortchanged. πŸ˜†

We could have unlimited servings of salmon and coffee if we are at the hotel breakfast buffet.

Okay we will just be here once to experience it.

Shall switch back to the breakfast buffet tomorrow. πŸ˜† #soundsgood

The hubs gave me his share of Ikura so I had extra portion to mix into my rice. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸ»

Our hotel location is pretty accessible. Around 5 mins walk to Sapporo JR.

See.. So beautifully presented that someone who usually doesn't take pic of his food also cannot control himself. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Otaru

I met Totoro there..😍

I found my favourite section!

So cute leh.. Take picture good enough, cos doubt I'll have the mood to trigger the musical switch if I buy it πŸ˜†

The snoopy series also very cute..

And this My Melody one is pretty unique, to switch on the musical notes, you just need to keep turning the mascot in a clockwise direction.

Stopped by for our coffee fix (badly need one cos we missed it during our breakfast time πŸ˜†) before we roamed though the streets of Otaru.

Seven years ago, we were here with my mum and sis, during our honeymoon trip.

Seven years later, we're here again with in-laws.

Okay, they are even now. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Aiyah out of a sudden, I can't seen to remember its name. πŸ˜†

Checking out the seafood!

Look at the giant alaskan king crabs legs.

Ramen Yokocho

At the ramen street hunting for a place to settle our lunch.

And I finally found one without the porky taste. 😁

@farahdean you can try this next time!

The restaurant is really tiny, can hold up to around 8 pax or so.

We actually split up as some of them prefer porky taste wor πŸ˜†

The ramen chef who's a pure Japanese happened to know how to speak a little bit of Mandarin. πŸ‘πŸ»

The chef whipping up our ramen..

The soup base..

My rich soy sauce clams ramen.. Yum! πŸ˜‹

Ordered extra onsen eggs. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸ»

Shopping at Tanuki Koji

Off loaded my backpack to ease my shopping. πŸ˜†

Tanuki Koji, equivalent of Shinsaibashi of Hokkaido.

But Shinsaibashi still wins hands down I must say.

The shops here generally close very early, some 7.30pm and some by 8pm.

So if you plan to do some shopping after dinner, you can forget about it.

Best is to shop till the shops close before settling for dinner. πŸ˜…

Good that it's sheltered, so the rain didn't get into our way..

There are a total of seven sections at Tanuki Koji (狸小路) and each section has a different decoration theme.

This giant mascot is at the 5th section.

Went Parco to search for my baobao, a pity they don't have anything that I fancy.

But at least they have bags on display. πŸ˜†

This is like a mini shinjuku crosswalk, albeit not as crowded.

My dinner set tonight!

My set is called "Moon" with a very interesting presentation.

It comes in a big "bowl". First tier are the sushi..

Second tier are salads and some small dishes..

And finally the last tier, tempura.

There were actually more tempura, I've eaten a couple of pieces before I took this pic πŸ˜†

Quite a good deal actually, only cost around $20 per set.

The drilled squid was awesome!! πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸ»

A video snippets on my dinner 😁

On a side note, I'm so excited that the Aug 16 issue is finally out. 😁

That's me and @shopaholicdeb being featured in the #seeingdouble feature about twins.

Oops seems that they got us mixed up in the Q&A hahaha.. πŸ˜…πŸ˜… oh well, we kinda used to it already.

Can't wait to read up on it when I'm back in Sg.

Thanks Nuyou Singapore for featuring us. 😘
